KRISTIN TURNER
I am a Gen Z anti-abortion activist that has laid the groundwork for a new generation focussed on nonviolent direct action to save the unborn from legal child killing. I grew up in Northern California, and although I supported abortion as a teenager, after my own experience as a survivor of sexual abuse, I saw abortion for the violence that it is.
Quickly I sprung into action, starting a group on my college campus, as well as my own non-profit. After over a year of tabling, sidewalk counseling, building a relationship with local pregnancy centers, and protesting, my work was recognized by leaders in the pro-life movement. I was asked to move to San Francisco to dedicate my life to the unborn. In 2021 I accepted that call and moved to SF to fight abortion in the very belly of the beast. I knew this city was the abortion training capital of the country. They had already trained over 2,000 active abortionists, while touting their fetal organ harvesting program.
During my fight in SF I came to the conclusion that there was a missing piece. There was something more the pro-life movement needed to be doing. After many hours on the streets, researching, and consulting with others I discovered what the missing piece was. It was not something unheard of, or impossible. It was Rescue.
To stand in between a child and their killer would seem obvious, but no one in the pro-life movement was doing it. After further research I found out why. The pro-life movement had coordinated over 70,000 arrests for this very type of action. Everyday people put their freedom on the line for the lives of unborn children. Until they were thwarted in 1994 by the FACE Act which made it possible for the federal government to charge non-violent activists with over 10 years in prison for simply preventing the death of a child.
I served as Executive Director of Pro-Life San Francisco for two years, while simultaneously helping found and direct the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) in the Fall of 2021. PAAU is responsible for the most significant recovery of fetal remains in recent history. The remains of these children were recovered during an attempted Rescue, and became the catalyst for a rebirth in the pro-life movement of Rescue, non-violent direct action, as well as the introduction of the FACE Act Repeal Act of 2023.
The lives of the unborn have not only been transformed through this activism, but they have in-turn transformed my life. When I entered the pro-life movement as an atheist, It was the silent testimony of abortion victims that spoke to me louder than any argument I had heard in Favor of God. I came to Christ through his beautiful creation. In their honor I have spent my life not only fighting for them, but creating for them. My advocacy attempts to bring dignity to these forgotten children by writing about their struggles in songs like “One Eye Open,” Rescue Blues,” and “The Butcher of DC.”
The thesis of my activism for the last 4 years has been simple. If abortion is murder, act like it.
I hope to spread this message to the movement entire. Until every baby is saved, and every killing mill is closed.
